Sudan: 570 Priceless Artifacts Recovered from Looted National Museum

More than 570 priceless artifacts that were stolen during the war from the National Museum of Khartoum in Sudan have been recovered after months of investigation. The artifacts, dating from prehistoric times to the Islamic period, include funerary figurines, pottery, bronze vessels, and amulets. The museum was looted by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the spring of 2023, and authorities suspect that the stolen artifacts were intended for the black market. The recovery of the artifacts was carried out with the assistance of UNESCO and INTERPOL. However, the museum's most valuable collection, the 'Golden Hall', remains missing. Sudanese authorities are committed to compensating those who return stolen artifacts.
