Strait of Hormuz: Malta-Flagged Ship Hit - Crew Abandoned Vessel

A Malta-flagged container ship, the Safeen Prestige, was hit and sustained damage in the Strait of Hormuz. The attack occurred approximately two nautical miles north of Oman while the vessel was heading east. The crew abandoned ship following a fire in the engine room caused by an unknown projectile. So far, no environmental impacts or injuries have been reported. Vanguard Tech, a British maritime security firm, stated that the projectile hit the ship just above the waterline, while the UKMTO confirmed the report of the hit and the crew's abandonment of the vessel.
