Drone Alert at British Bases – Commander Speaks on Threat to Cyprus

The Military Commander of the British Bases, Neil Cripps, reassured communities near the bases following recent drone incidents in the RAF Akrotiri area and Paphos Airport. He stated that the threat to eastern Cyprus remains low and that defensive capabilities and protection of the bases and local communities have been enhanced. A temporary evacuation of non-essential personnel from RAF Akrotiri took place, but the threat primarily concerns the military installation. Residents who wish to leave will receive support, and rumors of a general evacuation of the British Bases were denied.
