Ultimatum for Tseriou Avenue: "End of March or Accountability"

The Parliamentary Committee on Transport received assurances that the works on Tseriou Avenue in Nicosia, as well as on the roads leading to it, will be completed by the end of March. However, MP Christos Christofides of AKEL clarified that in the event of further delays, accountability will be sought, and the Committee will revisit the issue. The Committee examined the serious impact of the ongoing renovation works on Tseriou Avenue and its connecting roads, the observed delays, and the prolonged inconvenience experienced by residents of the wider area. Mr. Christofides stated that the issue was brought before the Committee on the initiative of the AKEL parliamentary group due to the significant delays in completing the project. He noted that firm assurances were given that all works would be completed within March, according to the revised schedules. He emphasized the need for proper management of public works and the imposition of penalties on contractors who repeatedly delay or unjustifiably increase the final cost, ensuring timely and budget-conscious project completion with respect for citizens and public funds.
