Increased Rainfall Conditions in the Eastern Mediterranean

The Department of Meteorology reports that increased rainfall conditions are prevailing in the Eastern Mediterranean, including Cyprus, which may temporarily improve soil moisture and hydrological conditions. Despite these relatively favorable conditions, the hydrological situation remains demanding, and rational water use is recommended. According to the medium-term climate forecast, the period from March 19-31 is expected to experience rainfall above normal levels. Weekly analyses indicate rainfall amounts between 25-75 millimeters, with the potential for localized flooding. The Department of Meteorology is monitoring the situation and will issue updates. The hydrological situation remains critical due to low water reserves following a prolonged drought.
