Trump Accuses Ukraine of Blocking Peace Deal with Russia

US President Donald Trump accused Ukraine of blocking a potential peace deal with Russia, a statement that contrasts with the position of European allies, who believe Moscow is not genuinely interested in ending the war. According to Trump, Vladimir Putin is willing to end the conflict, while Volodymyr Zelenskyy is more hesitant. Trump implied that Ukraine is the main obstacle to reaching an agreement, responding simply “Zelenskyy” when asked why negotiations have not yielded results. Referring to discussions about security guarantees, Trump noted that US negotiators are pressing Kyiv to relinquish territories in the Donbas region. Trump stated that he would meet with Zelenskyy at the World Economic Forum in Davos, but hinted that plans are not yet finalized. He reiterated his view that Zelenskyy is struggling to reach a deal, while the Ukrainian president has made it clear that he will not cede territories to Russia.
