The Common Organization of Markets is being modified by the Cypriot Presidency of the EU
The Cypriot Presidency of the EU has reached a political agreement to modify the regulatory framework of the Common Organization of Markets (COM). These changes aim to strengthen the position of farmers in the market and ensure fairer terms in the agri-food chain. Cyprus took over the COM modification file, addressing complex issues and promoting its priorities in the field of agriculture. The agreement provides for mandatory written contracts, enhanced labeling of product origin, and flexibility for successful transaction practices.
