Postponement of Bail Request for German Real Estate Agent in Property Dispute Case

The hearing of the bail request for German real estate agent Eva Isabella Kiunzel, accused of usurping Greek Cypriot properties in the occupied territories, has been postponed again until March 18, 2026. The postponement is due to the prosecution's unpreparedness to present its arguments, and the accused will remain in custody until then. The defense lawyer expressed strong dissatisfaction with the difficulties encountered during meetings with his client at the Central Prison, citing problems with access, communication, and mail control. The session continued with the examination of prosecution witnesses. The President of the Community Council of Agios Ambrosios Kerynia, Pantelis Ttofi, testified that all land plots in Agios Ambrosios belonged to Greek Cypriots until the Turkish invasion of 1974, and the plot in question belongs to the Church and has never been sold. During the witness examination, an objection was raised by the defense regarding a question from the prosecution about the residents of the village after the departure of the Greek Cypriots, which the defense lawyer characterized as an attempt to create prejudice. The prosecution responded that the question was relevant to understanding the subsequent situation in the area. The case continues with the anticipation of the next hearing, where the bail request is expected to be considered and the examination of witnesses will continue. The defense seeks the release of the accused, while the prosecution opposes it, citing the seriousness of the charges and the risk of flight or relapse.
