Avalanches in the Italian Alps Claim at Least Two Lives

Two people have died and others were injured in avalanches that struck the Italian Alps. The first avalanche occurred in the Maira Valley of Piedmont, near the French border, while the second was near the popular ski resort of Pragelato. Additionally, a 50-year-old skier died in an avalanche in the Veneto region. Strong winds are hampering rescue operations, making helicopter access impossible in some areas. Authorities have warned of an increased avalanche risk due to heavy snowfall and strong winds, urging skiers and hikers to be particularly cautious.
