200 Years of the Battle of Agia Napa Celebrated with Grandeur

The 200th anniversary of the Battle of Agia Napa (March 17, 1826), the only recorded battle of the Greek Revolution of 1821 that took place on Cypriot soil, was celebrated with grandeur. The commemorative event, held in Agia Napa, aimed to highlight the importance of the battle and the timeless value of historical memory. Representatives of the Cypriot government, Members of Parliament, mayors from Greece, and local authorities attended. The Minister of Justice and Public Order, Kostas Fytiris, emphasized the importance of the event as a tribute to historical memory and the bonds of Hellenism, as well as the twinning relations with the Municipalities of Pogoni and Sfakia. The geostrategic importance of Cyprus and the need for unity between Greece and Cyprus at the level of strategic cooperation, defense, and energy were also highlighted.
