It has been 36 years since the theft of artworks worth €1 billion from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, which remains unsolved to this day. On March 18, 1990, two men dressed as police officers broke into the museum and removed 13 masterpieces, including works by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Degas and Manet. The thieves, having prepared meticulously, managed to bypass security measures and remove the artworks in approximately 81 minutes. They left behind Titian's 'Europa', one of the most valuable works in the collection. Police and the FBI immediately launched an investigation, but the perpetrators were never identified. The theft is considered one of the largest in art history and remains a mystery. Authorities have received thousands of leads and offered large cash rewards for information leading to the recovery of the artworks and the perpetrators, but to no avail. The case remains open. Among the stolen artworks are Rembrandt's 'The Storm on the Sea of Galilee', Vermeer's 'The Concert' and five drawings by Degas. The value of the artworks is estimated at over €1 billion, but their true value is priceless due to their artistic and historical significance.
