61-Year-Old Victim of Online Fraud – Investigation by Paphos TAE

A 61-year-old woman in Paphos fell victim to online fraud after receiving a phone call from an unknown person posing as a bank employee. The scammer requested her personal and banking details under the pretext of updating her information and then persuaded her to make five money transfers totaling €425. The woman realized she had been defrauded when she discovered that her online bank account had been charged an additional €425.98 without her consent. The case is being investigated by the Financial Crime Investigation Office of the Paphos TAE. Police are urging the public to be cautious with online transactions and to never provide personal information over the phone or via messages.
