6.7 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes the Philippines

A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7 struck the Philippines, 68 kilometers east of Baculin. The US Geological Survey (USGS) announced that the focal depth was 10 kilometers. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) warned of potential serious damage and expects strong aftershocks. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) stated that a tsunami is not expected. So far, there are no reports of injuries or damage, although residents in the city of Hinatuan reported that many people went outside their homes out of fear.
