“Around 80 Greek Cypriots Were Beheaded and Thrown into a Well”: Shocking Testimony About a Massacre in 1963

A shocking testimony about the massacre of Greek Cypriots in 1963 has come to light, according to a report in the Turkish Cypriot newspaper “Avrupa”. According to the testimony, around 80 Greek Cypriots were beheaded and thrown into a well. The testimony comes from a man, who was revealed to the newspaper by the publisher of YENİ BAKİŞ, Yusuf Kısa. Kısa states that the man, known as “Old Man”, had revealed the incident to him years ago while living in London. He asked that the information not be made public while he was alive. After the death of the “Old Man”, Kısa decided to publish the testimony, considering it his legacy. The “Old Man” claims to have witnessed the beheading of the Greek Cypriots in 1963, with the perpetrator being his uncle. The massacre allegedly took place at a specific location, which Kısa intends to indicate. The publication is causing strong reactions in Cyprus, as it highlights a dark page in the island's history. This revelation is expected to trigger a new cycle of discussions and investigations into the events of 1963 and intercommunal tensions.
