962 Homes Sold to Foreigners in One Year – Concerning Figures

Data presented to the Parliament reveals a concerning trend of mass and uncontrolled property sales to foreigners in Cyprus. The Audit Office and the Ministry of Interior indicate that 40% of sales in 2024 were to foreign buyers (27% from third countries and 12% from EU countries). Paphos is at the forefront with 65% of sales to foreigners, followed by Ammochostos, Larnaca, Limassol, and Nicosia. Within a year (September 15, 2024 – September 15, 2025), 962 homes were purchased by foreigners, with Paphos accounting for 52% of the transactions. Additionally, 350 plots of land and 357 agricultural parcels were transferred to foreign ownership, led by Limassol. These figures highlight the need for stricter control and regulation of the real estate market to protect the interests of Cyprus.
