Accountant General Denies $500,000 Donation from 'American Investor'

The Accountant General of the Republic has responded to a query from AKEL MP Christos Christofides regarding a reported $500,000 donation from an 'American investor' mentioned in a circulated video. The Accountant General assured that no such donation has been recorded. Mr. Christofides had requested details of donations made to the state over the past three years, as well as information about the specific donation allegedly made by the American investor. The question arose after the publication of the video in which the former Director of the President's Office referred to such a 'contribution'. In his reply, the Accountant General Andreas Antoniades, emphasized that there is no recorded donation of $500,000 from an American investor. At the same time, he provided detailed information on the donations made to the state over the past three years. Regarding donations in kind, Mr. Antoniades noted that he does not have access to these files, which are kept at the Ministry of Finance. However, he informed that the relevant data has been requested by the Parliamentary Committee on Institutions, Values and Commissioner for Administration and will be submitted by the Ministry of Finance once ready.
