AKEL Aims to Curb Uncontrolled Land Sales to Third-Country Nationals

AKEL MP Aristos Damianou described as positive the approach of all participants in the Interior Committee regarding the problem of uncontrolled land sales to third-country nationals. AKEL has submitted draft laws aiming to end the acquisition of large land areas by non-Cypriots, with safeguards for controlling the ultimate beneficial owners and prohibiting the sale of agricultural and livestock land through assignments. The goal is to collaborate to change the legal framework, as existing criteria have led to the sale of large land areas to foreigners, near strategic points such as ports, airports, the ceasefire line, and beaches.
