Aldrich Ames, 'Worst Traitor in CIA History' Who Sold Secrets to the USSR, Dies

Aldrich Ames, a former CIA agent, has died at the age of 84 while serving a life sentence for spying for the Soviet Union. He was convicted in 1994 of selling classified information for $2.5 million, endangering covert operations and the lives of more than ten double agents. Along with his wife, Rosario, he is believed to have leaked information to the Soviets since 1985, with their lavish lifestyle raising suspicions. Ames' actions are considered one of the most damaging betrayals in CIA history.
