Animal Party Ends Cooperation with Green Party Ahead of Elections

The Animal Party of Cyprus has decided to terminate its cooperation with the Green Party of Cyprus in anticipation of the 2026 parliamentary elections. The decision was made after an emergency meeting of the Political Committee and a thorough evaluation of the political and practical prerequisites for a substantial and effective collaboration. The party states that the initiative to create a broader framework for cooperation between small political forces did not yield results, as the required critical mass of participation was not gathered. The experience of the 2021 elections showed that, despite a cumulative percentage of 14%, small formations failed to secure parliamentary representation. Guided by political consistency and a responsible attitude towards members and supporters, the Animal Party believes that continuing the cooperation under current conditions will not yield the desired results. Polls, with percentages of 1.7%, 1.5%, 0.5% and 0.1%, highlight the challenge of achieving substantial electoral influence. The decision to end the cooperation aims to avoid a fruitless effort and protect the political credibility of the party. The Animal Party will now seek to follow an autonomous path in the next elections.
