Annual Increase of 5.6% in Customs Department's Total Revenue in 2025
The Customs Department announced a 5.6% annual increase in its total revenue for 2025, compared to 2024. This increase translates to more than €75 million in additional revenue for state coffers. The increase comes from various sources, including import duties, excise tax, VAT on imports, and other revenues. Specifically, revenue from import duties increased by 11.5%, revenue from excise tax by 7.1%, other revenue by 9.3%, and VAT on imports by 4%. The Customs Department notes that the increased revenue contributed to the government's ability to announce support measures for the economy and citizens, following crises such as the war in the Middle East and the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak in livestock farming.
