Atromitos Peristeriou is close to signing Swiss midfielder Steven Zuber, a move considered a significant surprise and boost for the team. Both sides have already agreed to a 1.5+1 year contract, and the player is expected in Athens on Wednesday evening to complete the transfer. Zuber, who recently terminated his contract with Zurich, has previous experience in the Greek league having played for AEK for three and a half seasons. During his time at AEK, he won the double in 2023 and scored 25 goals and provided 13 assists in 119 appearances. Atromitos was looking for an attacking midfielder who could play behind the striker and contribute to goalscoring and assists, and Zuber appears to be the ideal choice. The Swiss ace is in good form, having made 18 appearances, scoring 4 goals and providing 4 assists for his former club Zurich in the first half of the current season. Zuber's career also includes appearances for clubs such as Grasshoppers, CSKA Moscow, Hoffenheim, Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt, as well as 56 international caps for Switzerland, including final stages of the Euro and World Cup. The acquisition of Zuber is expected to significantly strengthen Atromitos' attacking power.
