Attempted Arson in Limassol: Private Pursuit Led to the Arrest of a Foreigner

A 44-year-old foreigner was arrested by police in Limassol following a private pursuit by the owner of a brewery he attempted to set on fire. The attempted arson took place in the early hours of the morning in the Zakaki area. According to police, the suspect was found near the brewery with a motorcycle without license plates, a jerrycan of flammable liquid, and an improvised explosive device. He was injured during the pursuit by the owner and citizens and was taken to the hospital under guard. The arrested man, a Sri Lankan national, was residing illegally in Cyprus. The brewery had been the target of a similar criminal act approximately one month prior. Police are investigating the motives behind the attempted arson and are examining the possibility of a connection to the previous criminal act.
