Optimistic TAW: 'We Will Exceed Last Year's Low Reservoir Levels' – Detailed Situation at Dams

The Water Development Department (WDW) expresses optimism that last year's low reservoir levels will be exceeded, as water inflow is better than last year and rain is expected until the end of March. The inflow of the last three days amounts to 2 million cubic meters of water. First Technical Engineer Marios Chatzikostis states that the picture is particularly positive, especially in the province of Nicosia, and that the enrichment dams show improved fullness levels. The overall fullness of the dams today is 21.8%, while last year it was 25.1%, but is expected to increase with the upcoming rainfall. Mr. Chatzikostis estimates that there will be a better water supply for both drinking and irrigation, avoiding the extreme conditions that had been predicted. The Tamassos, Klerou and Solias dams show particularly positive results, while the dams in Polis Chrysochous are in better condition than last year.
