Bill to Abolish Social Support Agency and Establish Donation Fund

A bill to abolish the Social Support Agency is currently under consideration in Parliament. The purpose of the bill is to dissolve the Agency, complete pending obligations such as scholarships, and transfer the remaining assets to the Permanent Fund of the Republic. Simultaneously, a second bill was submitted concerning the acceptance of donations to strengthen student welfare. Donations will be deposited into a special bank account under the control of the Accountant General of the Republic and will be managed based on regulations to be established. The need for the bill arose from the fact that the existing law does not explicitly provide for the acceptance of donations to enhance student grants. The Attorney General supports the amendment of the law as necessary for the creation of a special account at the Central Bank to strengthen student welfare and provide additional financial support to students with financial or social problems.
