Bulgaria Stock Exchange Turnover Jumps 184% After Euro Adoption

The Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) recorded a nearly 184% increase in turnover in the last week, as Bulgaria joined the Eurozone in 2026, according to a BSE announcement on Tuesday. The number of transactions also increased by 112.79% year-on-year in the last week. The main index of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange, SOFIX, started 2026 with an increase of 14.41% in the first week of trading after Bulgaria's accession to the Eurozone. The increase is reminiscent of Bulgaria's accession to the European Union in 2007, when the SOFIX index rose by 6.37% and turnover by 12.24%. The CEO of the BSE stated that joining the Eurozone places Bulgaria in a new position on the economic map of Europe and is expected to facilitate access for international investors.
