Call for Unity and Peaceful Resolution of the Cyprus Issue

The president of the Paphos EOKA, Charalambos Pittokopitis, in a speech at the annual memorial service for the heroes Evagoras Pallikaridis, Vladimir Heracleous, Andreas Christodoulou and Herodotus Savvas in Tsada, emphasized the need for unity and exhausting every peaceful effort to achieve a sustainable solution to the Cyprus issue. He stressed that the solution must be compatible with UN resolutions, the principles of international law and the European acquis, ensuring human rights and the removal of occupying troops. Mr. Pittokopitis stated that the President of the Republic is working towards this goal, seeking the resumption of negotiations. The sacrifice of the heroes was honored and the need to not forget the lessons of the past, as well as Turkey's intransigent attitude and the continued violation of international law, was highlighted.
