Case Against Real Estate Agent Continues with Witness Examination

The trial against a German real estate agent accused of advertising and exploiting properties in the occupied territories continued at the Nicosia Criminal Court with the examination of two witnesses. During the proceedings, the defense lawyer, Sotiris Argyrou, stated that access to the hard drive containing evidence from investigations in Germany was only possible with the help of an expert. The disk contains over 5 million documents in German, and access to CDs with testimony from M. Neofytou was not possible. The representative of the Prosecution, Anna Matthaiou, responded that the CDs contain bank data obtained through a European search warrant and are not related to today's testimonies. The Prosecution intends to present the German documents at a later stage, without using all the material, following a predetermined schedule. Mr. Argyrou expressed concern about the availability of a translator in prison to study the material with his client and questioned the legality of the process for the material from Germany, proposing a 'trial within a trial' on the matter. The witness, Konstantina Parpa, a member of the Police Electronic Crime Prosecution Unit, testified about online investigations conducted in the case. She confirmed that Eva Kiunzel is the CEO and founder of the real estate company, and advertisements for tourist complexes and residential units in the occupied territories were found. During cross-examination, the witness admitted to using only Google Translate for the German website.
