Colombia: ELN Supports 'Union' with Other Rebel Groups Against US

The leader of the ELN, one of Colombia's largest armed rebel groups, said he would support a union with other rebel organizations to counter a potential US military intervention in Latin America. This statement comes after threats from President Trump of military action against countries producing cocaine. Iván Mordisco, leader of a breakaway group of former FARC, had earlier proposed a summit of rebel leaders to address such a threat. Both organizations accuse the US of seeking to seize Colombia's natural resources. Despite initial tensions, Colombian President Gustavo Petro and President Trump have scheduled a meeting to address common challenges.
