Concerns Raised Over Surveillance Bill – Judicial Oversight at Risk
Concerns are being raised regarding the surveillance bill, as the removal of judicial oversight as a safeguard is being promoted. According to reports, the intelligence service will be able to seek approval from a committee appointed by the Council of Ministers to continue surveillance, instead of appealing to the courts. Legal experts point to the risks to human rights and the need to maintain independent judicial supervision. The bill is expected to be put to a vote in the plenary session of the Parliament on Thursday.
