Criminal Court: Defense's Objection to Amended Deposition in Kyunzel Case Dismissed

The Criminal Court dismissed the defense's objection in the case of German real estate agent Eva Isabella Kyunzel, who is accused of usurping Greek Cypriot properties in the occupied territories. The objection concerned the amended text of her investigatory deposition, which the defense characterized as “completely different text” from the original deposition. However, the court stressed that the amendment was made in accordance with the court's instructions and that these have been fully complied with. The defense argued that the accused had no opportunity to challenge the content of the amended deposition, as it resulted from an investigation that had been deemed illegal in a previous decision. The Prosecution, for its part, assured that the shaping of the text was done strictly based on a court order. The court reiterated that it cannot revise a previous decision and that the process will continue based on the amended text. The case is ongoing and additional witnesses are expected to be examined.
