Cypriot Shipping: Ships Remain Stranded in the Persian Gulf and Oman

Ships belonging to members of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber remain stranded in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman due to Iranian threats to the Strait of Hormuz. The situation is calm so far, with no ships having been directly attacked or sustained damage, and no casualties among the crews. According to the Director-General of the Chamber, Alexandros Iosifidis, approximately 35,000 sailors and passengers are stranded in the region, part of whom are linked to shipping companies in Cyprus. Companies are trying to charter planes to repatriate passengers and crews. Shipping companies are closely monitoring the situation and analyzing the risks, currently avoiding any movement of ships from the Persian Gulf. Similarly, ships in the Gulf of Oman are in safe locations, waiting for the right conditions to leave. The main priority is the safety of the ships and sailors, and support is being provided to their families. The Chamber manages ships regardless of the flag and closely monitors developments in the region.
