Cyprus Central Bank Reports on November Interest Rates

The Central Bank of Cyprus released data on deposit and lending interest rates for November, showing mixed trends. Interest rates on fixed deposits of up to one year from households increased, while those for companies decreased. A similar picture emerges for loans, with consumer and mortgage rates rising, while loans to businesses for small amounts remained stable and for larger amounts increased due to higher risk. Compared to the Eurozone, lending rates in Cyprus are comparable, while deposit rates are the lowest, possibly due to the high liquidity of Cypriot banks and the small reach of the Cypriot banking market.
