Cyprus Falls in Corruption Perception Index

Cyprus has fallen three places in the 2025 Corruption Perception Index, ranking 49th out of 182 countries. The country's score decreased to 55 from 56 in 2024. The index, published by Transparency International, assesses perceived corruption in the public sector, considering factors such as bribery, embezzlement, nepotism, and access to information. The report highlights the global challenges posed by the competition between major powers and the climate crisis, as well as the need for principled leadership and strong institutions. The global average of the index has decreased for the first time in more than a decade.
