Cyprus: Lifting of Nikos Sykas' Immunity is Inevitable – Legal Service Instructions

The Legal Service of Cyprus has instructed for the lifting of the parliamentary immunity of Nikos Sykas, a MP for DISY, following a complaint of domestic violence by his partner. The service requests an immediate evaluation of the case file and the submission of an application to the Supreme Court for the lifting of immunity, as well as the continuation of the investigation to adequately justify the request. At the same time, the Limassol Police are taking statements from additional individuals who are aware of the incident, in order to strengthen the complainant's testimony. The lifting of immunity is considered necessary in order for Mr. Sykas to be investigated for the allegations.
