Cyprus Museum Celebrates Europe with Renovated Exhibition

The Cyprus Museum is preparing to celebrate Europe with the presentation of significant upgrades to its permanent exhibition. The work includes the addition of new findings from recent archaeological excavations, the re-integration of repatriated antiquities, and the enrichment of the exhibition space with modern visual material. In addition, improvements have been made to the lighting and display cases, aiming to enhance the visitor experience. The presentation of the upgrades will take place at 4:00 PM with greetings from the Deputy Minister of Culture, Dr. Vasiliki Kassianidou, and the Director of the Department of Antiquities, Dr. Giorgos Georgiou. Two guided tours of the permanent exhibition will follow, from 4:45 PM to 6:00 PM and from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. As part of the project “Theatrical Practices, Collections and Archives: Findings, Photographs and Texts of the Swedish Archaeological Mission in Cyprus,” the theatrical reading “Encounters” will be presented at 6:30 PM. Attendance at the reading requires a reservation via phone call to 99 769321 by January 15, 2026. The event will conclude with musical selections by Sophronis Sophroniou and a reception in the garden of the Cyprus Museum. The exhibition upgrade aims to highlight the cultural heritage of Cyprus and attract more visitors to the island's most important archaeological museum.
