Cyprus Seeks Foreign Assistance in Investigation of Controversial Video

The Republic of Cyprus has requested assistance from the United States, Israel, the United Kingdom, and France in the investigation related to the controversial video that came to light, containing references to suspicious funding and investments. The video allegedly records conversations between former Energy Minister Giorgos Lakkotrypis, the Director of the President's Office, Charalambos Charalambous, and the Director of the Cyfield Group, Giorgos Chrysos, with a Dutch investor. Giorgos Lakkotrypis has already given a statement to the Police, providing evidence that is being evaluated. Scientific reports from the Electronic Crime Sub-Directorate and the Forensic Science Service are also expected. The Police and the Legal Service are working closely together to evaluate all the data and investigate the origin of the video and its potential links to illegal activities. The investigation covers the entire spectrum of the video and is not limited to specific elements. It has not yet been decided whether statements will be taken from other individuals appearing in the video. The Police emphasize that the investigation is ongoing and all possible aspects of the case are being examined.
