Cyprus Tourism Reaches New Heights in 2025, Paphos Closer to Year-Round Destination Status

2025 is emerging as a landmark year for Cypriot tourism, with a new record in arrivals expected to exceed 4.5 million, representing an increase of over 12%. The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, highlighted that the increase in arrivals over three years reaches 40%, while tourism revenue has broken all previous records. Cyprus ranked first in Europe for improving air connectivity and second for overall growth compared to 2019. Particular emphasis was placed on extending the tourist season and efforts to make Paphos a year-round destination, with an increase in flights to and from Germany. The Pan Cypriot Hoteliers Association (PASYXE) expressed satisfaction but pointed out that the increase in arrivals is not fully reflected in hotel occupancy rates due to tourists staying in unlicensed accommodations and moving to the occupied territories. Cyprus has also been recognized for the increase in overnight stays in tourist accommodations. The German market is a strategic goal, with targeted actions to further strengthen it. Until recently, the German market was relatively small for Cyprus, but 2025 saw a new historical record in arrivals from Germany, after 28 years.
