Nicosia has been informed by Brussels for the past three to four months about potential hybrid threats, ahead of taking over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The video that has come to light is considered a combination of real footage with edited audio and images, with strong characteristics of organized propaganda. The President of the Republic has requested an investigation into the matter and has stated that if any illegal act is found to have been committed by the Director of his Office, Charalambos Charalambous, he will no longer be by his side. The President is under attack on his integrity and calls on anyone with evidence to submit it to the competent authorities. The government is calling for caution and management of the shadow that has fallen over the Republic of Cyprus, as the presiding country of the Council of the EU. Some characterize the publication of the video as organized propaganda.
