Damianos Presides Over EU Transport Council in Brussels

The Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Michalis Damianos, is presiding over today's session of the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council (Energy) in Brussels, as part of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union. On the agenda is a discussion on the 'European Networks Package', which includes proposals for revising regulations concerning trans-European energy infrastructure and permitting procedures. The Energy Ministers of the member states will also discuss the progress of the action plan for affordable energy and hear a presentation from the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) on developments in the EU's internal energy market. A working lunch will focus on accelerating investments in clean energy to strengthen European competitiveness, with the participation of representatives from the European Investment Bank. The proceedings will conclude with a discussion on promoting energy security through the further integration of European energy systems, with the participation of the Energy Ministers of Ukraine and Moldova.
