Dead Fish Found in Athalasassa Park Lake, Raising Environmental Concerns
Citizens were confronted with a disturbing sight at Athalasassa Park, with dozens of dead fish floating in the lake. The phenomenon has recurred in the past, causing concern for the state of the ecosystem. According to the Forestry Department, the phenomenon is due to toxic cyanobacteria that cause a drop in oxygen levels in the water. However, this year's conditions appear to be different due to increased water flow after recent rains. Authorities have begun collecting the dead fish to prevent contamination and a meeting has been scheduled to coordinate actions and take immediate measures.
