Decision Pending on Additional Witnesses in German Realtor's Trial

A decision on whether to accept additional witnesses in the trial of German realtor Eva Isabella Kiunzel, who is accused of usurping Greek Cypriot properties in the occupied territories, is expected on January 14th. The Prosecution is requesting the addition of a police officer who participated in the investigation and handled documents sent to the German authorities. The Prosecution argues that the addition of the witnesses is necessary to present all substantial evidence to the Court. However, the defense is reacting, citing “equality of arms” and arguing that the addition of witnesses is being made without revealing the essence of their testimony. The defense attorney also denounced a violation of the Constitution and the Criminal Procedure Code, claiming that the investigation continued for a long time after the defendant's arrest. He believes that the addition of witnesses is being used to cover gaps in the case retrospectively. The Court reserved its decision for January 14th, while the defendant remains in custody under the same conditions.
