Dendias-Katz: Greece-Israel-Cyprus Common Line Against 'Threats'

Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias met with his Israeli counterpart, Yoav Gallant (previously referred to as Israel Katz), in Athens to discuss deepening defense cooperation between Greece and Israel. Particular emphasis was placed on collaboration in the field of unmanned underwater vehicles through ELKAK. Mr. Dendias highlighted the importance of Greece as a stabilizing factor in the region, emphasizing the defense of the country's sovereignty and sovereign rights. Mr. Katz, for his part, referred to destabilizing practices in the region, without naming specific countries, but leaving clear hints towards Turkey. He stressed the determination of an alliance of free and powerful countries to confront those seeking to impose control through terrorism or destabilize sovereign states. The cooperation between Greece and Israel includes a military cooperation program for 2026 with 55 activities, such as joint exercises and specialized actions. Both ministers agreed that this cooperation is not limited to formal agreements, but is based on a common spirit of understanding and a shared reading of the challenges facing the region. Finally, both ministers stressed the importance of unity between Greece, Israel and Cyprus in the face of common threats in the region. This meeting marks a further deepening of relations between the three countries in the field of defense and security.
