Deputy Minister: Cyprus Strengthens its Role in the Eastern Mediterranean
The Deputy Minister of Migration and International Protection, Nikolaos Ioannidis, stated that Cyprus is strengthening its role as a pillar of security and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean. This is done by leveraging its European status, relations with neighboring countries and synergies with European and third countries. In his speech at the event celebrating the national anniversaries of March 25th and April 1st, the Deputy Minister stressed that Cyprus continues to function as a bridge of cooperation and peace in the region, offering humanitarian contribution to neighboring warring states. He recalled that these anniversaries remind us of the value of freedom, unity and dedication to national ideals, while emphasizing the unbreakable bond between Greece and Cyprus. The recent decision by Greece to honor April 1st in its schools is a confirmation of this relationship. The Deputy Minister referred to the value of sacrifice for freedom and honor, emphasizing that the fighters of 1821 and 1955 call on us not to compromise with injustice and occupation, but to fight for the liberation and vindication of the homeland.
