Dipyros on Nikos Sykas Case: Presumption of Innocence Applies

Following a meeting of the Executive Bureau of the Democratic Rally (DISY), it was decided to remove the name of MP Nikos Sykas from the party's ballot paper due to allegations of domestic violence. This decision will be put to the approval of the party's Political Bureau on Wednesday. MP Evthymios Dipyros emphasized that the proposal to remove Sykas's name was discussed in detail and that DISY respects the presumption of innocence. However, he stressed that the party shows no tolerance for acts of violence, especially against women. Nikos Sykas has stated that he is at the disposal of the authorities and will provide any necessary information. The party awaits the results of the police and judicial investigation before making further decisions regarding the final dismissal of the MP.
