Earthquake in Cyprus Linked to Previous Strong Shocks, Further Tremors Possible

The Geological Survey Department announced that it recorded an earthquake of magnitude 3.2 on the Richter scale on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 13:25, with an epicenter in the wider area of Agia Marina Kelokedaron, 23 kilometers east of Paphos. The earthquake was felt in the provinces of Paphos and Limassol and is related to the two strong earthquakes (M5.2 and M5.3) that occurred on November 12, 2025, and the ongoing seismic sequence with more than 300 earthquakes in the same area. The Department reports that the sequence is evolving smoothly, but this does not rule out the possibility of further felt earthquakes.
