EDEK Demands Transparency and Removal of Presidential Office Director Amid 'Videogate' Scandal

EDEK has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the ongoing 'Videogate' scandal, believing it aims to undermine the credibility of the Republic of Cyprus, particularly as it assumes the presidency of the Council of the European Union. The party accuses circles involved in collusion, corruption, and favoritism of creating fertile ground for such attacks. EDEK is calling for full transparency in the finances of the First Lady's Fund, with the public disclosure of contributions and expenditures. Simultaneously, it demands the immediate removal of the Director of the President's Office, Charalambos Charalambous, and anyone else involved in these questionable practices. The party expresses disappointment with the government's responses so far, characterizing them as insufficient. It emphasizes that the government has a duty to provide honest explanations, even if they involve admitting mistakes. EDEK pledges to fight to protect the country's reputation and restore citizens' trust in the state, stressing that it will not allow anyone to play with Cyprus's dignity.
