EKYSY Welcomes New Legislation on Insurance Premiums for Elderly Drivers

The Cyprus Pensioners' Union (EKYSY) expressed its satisfaction with the passage of the new legislation concerning third-party liability insurance premiums for elderly drivers. The legislation gives drivers the right to file a complaint with their insurer if they disagree with the charges. Additionally, they can appeal to the Financial Commissioner or file a complaint with the Insurance Supervisor, who can impose a fine of up to €10,000 in case of violation of the legislation. EKYSY emphasizes that age can no longer be used as the sole criterion for refusing insurance or increasing premiums without adequate justification. The Union calls on the President of the Republic to sign the legislation immediately so that it can come into force as soon as possible.
