Escalating Conflict within the Cyprus Police Force over Duty Allowances

The relationship between the Police leadership and officers is at a critical juncture following a decision to reduce duty allowances. The ISOTITA union strongly reacts, describing the decision as unilateral, illegal, and arbitrary, and announces dynamic measures. ISOTITA also alleges violations in the process of the Mixed Committee for the Police (MEPA), claiming it was deliberately excluded from a crucial session, altering the composition of the body. Simultaneously, it has made appeals to EUROCOP, seeking internationalization of the issue and considering legal action in Cyprus. The union calls for a mass protest outside the Parliament and unity with the SEK for addressing the changes it believes undermine the labor rights of police officers. Finally, it highlights the existence of significant financial arrears and unpaid working hours.
