Establishment of the Association of Greek Professionals in Cyprus (SELEK)

The Association of Greek Professionals in Cyprus (SELEK) was officially founded in Nicosia, marking a new era for the organized representation of Greek business and scientific interests in Cyprus. The establishment of SELEK responds to the need for strategic coordination and institutional interconnection, as the Greek presence in Cyprus has increased significantly in recent years. The Association operates under the auspices of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), enhancing its credibility and institutional weight. SELEK has a clear institutional framework and governance principles, with the General Assembly as the supreme body and the Board of Directors as the executive body. Its institutional architecture ensures transparency, accountability, and collective responsibility. The first Board of Directors consists of Konstantinos Daltas as President, Konstantinos Kosmas as Vice-President, Angelos Chontoulidis as Secretary, Philippos Markou as Treasurer, and members Dimitris Kakounis, Grigoris Kamperis, and Giorgos Bitoulas. The President of SELEK, Mr. Kostas Daltas, stated that the establishment of the Association is a mature and necessary initiative, as the professional community in Cyprus now has the capacity and responsibility to gain an organized voice and common strategic orientation. He emphasized the importance of cooperation and collective action to strengthen the footprint of the Greek community in Cyprus. The General Director of the CCCI, Mr. Philokypros Rousounidis, highlighted the importance of the institutional initiative and welcomed the creation of SELEK, expressing his belief that it will contribute to the economic and institutional development of Cyprus. The cooperation between SELEK and the CCCI is expected to create significant synergies and promote the common interests of the two organizations.
