EU Commission to Audit CAP Payments for Eligible Animals

The European Commission will conduct audits to ensure that Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) payments are made only for eligible and existing animals. This was announced by a Commission spokesperson in response to questions about Greece's new action plan for the Integrated Management and Control System (IMCS). The audits will focus on the effective implementation of the measures outlined in the plan, including the creation of a new digital geospatial map, electronic recording of sheep and goats, and increased controls. The AADE also clarifies that grazing rights remain valid, even in cases of false declarations. Furthermore, the Commission declined to comment on matters concerning personnel under investigation by the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO).
